Cody Leonard is a guitar instructor serving Poulsbo and Kitsap County. He offers private lessons for guitarists age 5 and up. He specializes in rock, country, punk, folk, and heavy metal guitar styles. If you aren’t sure what style you want to focus on right away, there’s no need to fret!*

RATES: $30 for 30 minutes, $45 for 45 minutes and $60 for 60 minutes. Cody accepts cash, check, venmo, and paypal.

PLEASE NOTE: Cody currently teaches out of his home in Poulsbo. His home is a hobby farm and there are many animal allergens on the property, including cats, dogs, ducks, and chickens. Please let us know if allergies are a concern and we will make every effort to accommodate.

YOUR FIRST LESSON:

Make sure to bring your guitar and a pick!** If the student has a particular song in mind, include the title and artist in the form, and Cody will make himself familiar with it prior to the lesson. But this is not required; we can always start with the basics! Cody will begin by assessing the student’s experience with the guitar: its anatomy, stringing, tuning, and hand position. Next, we’ll get your fingers moving on the board with some simple scales, melodies, and chord shapes. We’ll also look at some guitar tablature, and sheet music, if the student is interested in learning it. Cody will assess the student’s progress, recommend some exercises to practice with, and assign a target for the next lesson.

Players under 12 are encouraged to start with 30 minute lessons. We don’t want to overwhelm a young player before they find their groove. But any student is welcome to take 30, 45, or 60 minute lessons at their discretion.
